Neuropsychological evaluations of children and adults
As a neuropsychologist I perform neuropsychological testing with children and adults presenting with various forms of cognitive as well as psychiatric concerns in Philadelphia and Jenkintown Pennsylvania, both part of the Delaware Valley.
Requests for evaluations may be related to concerns experienced in association with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders, learning disorders, forms of dyslexia, memory and concentration problems, disruptions with regard to organization and planning skills, as well as other neurocognitive concerns. At times individuals may also be presenting with depression and anxiety, which can contribute to the primary problem or be secondary to the problem itself.
Individuals presenting with a traumatic brain injury may also be presenting with similar symptoms consequential to an acquired brain injury, as well as individuals who have had a cerebral accident such as a stroke.
The neuropsychological testing not only assists in identifying areas of neurocognitive weakness, but also areas of existing strength and ability while further identifying accommodations that can at times be applied to help compensate for cognitive weakness that the individual is experiencing. The identification and development of potential areas of adaptive skills, or how the individual can now learn to relearn information is a needed area for individuals reentering school, work and the community, after having experienced an acquired brain injury.
The identification of areas of accommodation is most readily accomplished through the administration of neuropsychological testing, educational and vocational (neurovocational) testing with individuals following an acquired brain injury or trauma. These services are also provided for individuals presenting with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities and forms of autism, as a means of identifying existing neurocognitive and neurobehavioral strengths and weaknesses.
